A few weeks ago I emailed Canon about if it was possible to upgrade the firmware on this lens by the user. I have a 5Diii and it reports firmware on both the camera & lens. The Canon guy said the only lens firmware you can update with the camera is the new 40mm "pancake" lens. This seems to be to be a bad business plan. So he told me to ship it back to them and they would update it for me and return it. I asked if they expect me to pay the shipping even though this lens cost an arm and a leg. He said that they would send me a UPS label to send it back to them at their costs. So, Monday I packed her up and shipped it from Toledo, Ohio to Newport New facility to have this upgrade completed. I went to Canon website today (Friday) to check the status of it and it said it was done, shipped and delivered. I head back to my receiving department and there was the box from Canon. Just wanted to give "props" to Canon for speedy and helpful service.
