Hi guys,

Probably not the best forum to post this, but figured I'd share on POTN as well, as I'm pretty happy with how everything turned out. Shot over the course of three nights.
Some shots are not super crisp, because flash durations are not powerful enough.
We're shooting with 2 500ws lamps, 2 1000ws lamps and I have to overpower all that. I think it's just some slight ghosting; can't think of another reason.

Let me know what you think! This was my first time shooting urban skiing and action at night with strobes.

hey dude! nice to see some more from this set.
I would LOVE #2 if the skier was a bit sharper, and some rim light would help to make him pop a bit more, dark clothes on dark sky is hard.
It's hard with not a lot of light (speedlights) to light up everything you want (the feature) without letting in some ambient

looks like getting your flashes off the ground might have helped in some cases, light stands can be found for relatively cheap on craigslist and whatnot

Isn't shooting urban awesome? I love it!

Ye, some of the shots aren't very sharp, I know. Kinda sucks. I got lightstands back home (Europe), but don't have any here. Too bad and don't really feel like buying them for the short time I'm here. Might get a strobe (Einstein+VML) or some more flashes.

I seriously love shooting urban, so much fun! Some of the shots are up on Newschoolers; let's see how they're received by the community. I love the second shot, but like you said: it's quite blurry. Such a shame. 2 flashes doesn't allow for much versatility...

Yeah, that's what I used! Blur was simply a problem because there was some ghosting going on. Next time I should underexpose more I guess.

Great shot Matt! I don't quite get how you were able to do that though. These were shot at 1/160 because my 5D has awful sync speed, but still... Flashes were at 1/3 (more or less) power. Two/three flashes depending on the shot.

the flashes i used in that shot were more powerful than yours?/shot at a higher power? I'm not sure

I shot three (left, middle, right) from the front at 1/3 to 1/4 power or so. About 15 feet away from the subject
