I'm going to photograph books for a project I'm doing. Is there a certain way to do that (maybe like product photography)? Technical details I should know?

TIA

Use a large plate of non-reflective glass and put some weights on the edges outside the frame so that it presses the book as flat as possible. Use a tripod shooting straight down or a copy stand.

Why do I need a plate of non-reflective glass for photographing books?

Sounds like tzalman thought that you were "copying" the pages of books.

So the next question would be, are they going to be open? Closed? Both? Will a person be holding them?

I'll be photographing books open, closed, only the cover and even individual pages. Paper types and printing may vary.

I'm not trying to ask people for ideas, just for technical guiding for this type of photography. The ideas are mine and mine alone.

Since you aren't copying pages as Elie thought, I don't understand why you don't just shoot whatever fits your concept of what you need?
