I have just bought a canon rebel and was looking at getting a telephoto lens for it but i don't really know that much about cameras and was wondering what type of telephoto lens i could get that would be under two hundred dollars and would still take crisp and clear pictures
Please help out

Research the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro. It's under $200 and the best bang for the buck in its class. You'll also want to get a good tripod for the sharpest shots possible.

Under $200 is a tough one for a crisp telephoto lens.

You may want to try and find the old Canon 70-210 f3.5-4.5 or the 55-200mm or even the 100-300 USM. They probably cost that much or a little less in used market.

Another one is the Sigma APO Macro 70-300 which has pretty good review.

edit: fstopjojo beat me to it :)

The much recommended sigma 70-300 APO DG is the one for you.

I have the canon ef 75-300mm lens. I bought it at Wal Mart for $175. As far as take crisp clear picture, this lens does sometimes. Its all about the conditions. Its very hard to get a 300mm shot without blur indoors. Here are too photos I took with the lens

You can look for some used lens if you fund is limited. My first telephoto lens was a used EF 100-300 USM. It is pretty good for the price. As fstopjojo suggested, Sigma 70-300 APO Macro II is a good consumer lens too. A used one probably costs a lot less.

Wander over to www.keh.com (external link). They have some decent deals on used lenses. You can check the reviews on the lenses you're considering on http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/ (external link).
