I visited Ocklawaha Prairie in Florida last Sunday and encountered quite a bit of wildlife during my 3 hour visit. The trail leads to a 1/4 mile long boardwalk which stretches across the prairie. As I was on the boardwalk, I heard rustling in the marsh and so I stood very quietly watching the brush move and waiting for the opportunity to photograph the species that was foraging through the brush. My patience paid off and a pair of juvenile raccoons emerged. After spotting me, they sniffed the air and once they determined I was not a threat (nor was I moving), they continued their foraging for food and came within a few feet of the boardwalk. It was an exhilarating experience to photograph these two. Here are a few choice shots of them from my Flickr. Thank you for taking a look.
