Hi there, i was just looking around for a good telescope for bird watching, when i found this: http://www.scottcountry.co.uk …detail.asp?productID=1345 (external link)
How does this work? I know it says all the info that there is about it, but i was wondering if anyone here has had any previous experiences or encounters with this type of thing? Is it really a 1000mm camera lens, why is it so cheap?
any way thanks for your time.

it's cheap because they are using cheap glass (probably plastic) and you won't (probably) get good quality. It doesn't say anything about Aperature, or focusing. I would stay away from it unless you don't use it for photography. If you use it for photography you will be dissapointed with the quality.

canon weight ;)

There is insufficient information on the website to give you a reliable answer. Based on the price, the device will be of poor quality for good photography. You have no idea what the aperture will be, and the lenses are probably of poor to fair quality with no correction for chromatic aberration, and likely to be inconsistently sharp across the focal plane.

The lens you posted will be a very simple long-focus (not necessarily telephoto) all-manual lens. It probably has very few elements, and they may not correct CA very well.
Note - telephoto refers to a special case of long focus lenses, where the lens is shorter than the actual focal length, a trick made possible by use of a negative (diverging) lens in the light path.
