Just a Titmouse who posed for me:

She was so happy with the pic, she sent me a friendly salute:

Wow... is this with the Bigmos? Very nice.. the bokeh is exceptional! I have been vacillating between the 100-400 and the Bigmos, leaning towards the 100-400 but pictures like this are making my decision much harder.. :D

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Yes, it's the BIGMO - but the 100-400 would provide the same bokeh I guess, it's just that this red tree is far enough behind the subject (30/40 feet) that it blurs nicely, even at f/8.
I have never had a 100-400, but to be sharp the BIGMO needs to be opened at f/8 minimum, f/9 is even better IMO; here the light was not great so I was at ISO 1600 and no more than f/8 to keep a decent shutter speed - but whenever possible I use f/9. I would think that the 100/400 is sharper than the BIGMO at wider apertures? To be confirmed by actual users.

Beautiful shots, Gerard. Pardon my newbie-ness, but what lens is a "Bigmo"?

Not at all - it's the Sigma 150-500 (Sigma APO 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM is the complete name).

Thanks. I'd say that's appropriately named ;)

Yes. In addition, BIGMA is the nickname of the older Sigma 50-500.
