I have two 40D`s, my 50L stays on one of them at all times....I freaking love the lens, the colors are outstanding...I will be the first in the thread to post a pic taken with the lens...but hopefully not the last...

i had the 24-70L or the 24-105L for several years before taking the plunge with just the 50L to cover the normal range (apart from the longer end of my 17-40L). I have to say that I've not missed the 24-70L at all.
for me, the image quality of the 50L more than makes up for the lack of convenience offered by a zoom.
my suggestion, for what it's worth, is go for it - get the 50L.

Well, I just did. I could't resist it after getting it into my hand :P
The lens is freakin awesome, just got a few shots today, nothing special, but I got a good impression out of it.
And btw, the sharpness at 1.2 isn't that bad.

I owned the 50L and sold it, the lens i had was UZ code date (2011) and i had to -10 on the 5d2 body, so the focus issues are still up to date .

The above has nothing to do with focus shift

Hi guys.
Just wanted some help to decide in a future purchase.
I just sold two of my lens, the 24-70L, and the 100L. The 20-70 was just boring,

Sorry, not sure I understand. What do you mean by boring?

Lets see if I can explain it. The images that came out of the 24-70 were always lacking something, contrast, saturation. The L primes do better have much better colors and contrast, maybe the version 2 of the lens is much better, but my old version produced images a bit plain. Don't get me wrong, it was a fantastic lens, super versatile, but not the sharpest lens, got a bit disappointed some times.
Another thing about, was the size, to big to take a dinner with friends and things like that.

I believe that I got a good group of people here that can back me up on this feeling :)

it is just a tool, so a lens cannot be boring...it is what you do with it.
