6D Dynamic range??

A lot of my shots are scenes where I make use of all the DR I can. Including using 2 graduated filters and pushing shadows 2-3 stops.

I often shoot multiple bracketed shots in these situations but it has its limits.

Took a quick look at your NZ Portfolio Rob - really like #10/25 Alta. It's quite different.........have not seen a composition like that before; unique.

Yeah, but don't you realize that the 6D IQ doesn't matter cause the AF specs suck?!

Hmm I use live view 98% of the time now anyhow..

hmm, pentium 4 was made on 180nm. Ivy Bridge is using 22nm and Intel will be moving to 14nm early next year for Haswell. why is Canon still using an ancient process for their newest sensors?!

Well, one is a CPU (i7) with ~2 Billion transistors (Pentium 4 had 42M transistors) and the other one is a dSLR sensor with ~20 Million pixels.

Not exactly apples to apples.
And, yes, going smaller (geometry wise) would have benefits for Canon even though the costs would significantly rise. But they need to compete or perish...

You know, I could post a picture of a 5D3 up here; and make the same comments, AND put some glass in place of the body cap- and well, it'd be just as true. And even the Zeiss aficionados would argue that a Zeiss lens is what a 5D3 needs ( I don't own any at this point in time )...

Intel goes to smaller manufacturing to shrink the processor and increase the yield/wafer. Canon's CMOS sensor sizes are fixed at 24X36mm so there is no incentive to shrink the sensor through smaller die resolution.
