Les tamtams du Mon-Royal, Montreal

Hey,

"One of the most original musical events in Montréal, this free festival takes place on Sundays, near the monument to Sir George-Étienne Cartier and in Mount Royal Park's surrounding green spaces. A colourful gathering of drummers, dancers, vendors and their admiring audiences. For twenty years, Montrealers and visitors have come to play music and dance, or just watch and listen." That's how toursime Canada describes les tams-tams but trust me , it's much more than this .

Before continuing the project, search for les tam-tams du mont Royal on youtube to get an idea about the event , as mentioned , every Sunday people gather in Parc Mont-Royal to share this energetic yet mystical event .

On the beats of the African drumming, people from all different classes, different races, religions, ideologies, backgrounds and ages gather to indulge in the mysticity of the music.

I usually prefer space and isolation in my work, but the whole point of the event was the opposite so i had to adapt. I used my canon 70-200 f/4 IS for the whole event.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's super fun, i've been a few times this summer but i usually leave my camera behind to enjoy the experience without worrying about taking pictures.

Oh how I miss Montreal, especially the plateau... we stayed in an apartment just off Saint Laurent.

We walked everywhere, I love the "open-ness" of the area (no skyscraper, big box, commercialism type buildings), a wonderful place to interact with people and enjoy life.


In fact, my profile picture is of me sitting on purple steps in Montreal!
