Can anyone assist with some ideas for diffusing my ringflash? I like the convenience of the ringflash for handheld macro work, but am not a fan of the reflections and highlights.

Photos of your diffusion masterpieces welcome. :)

Cheers, Damien

A friend of mine does it this way....very effective and no more weird circular catchlights...and much better light overall.

Sort of defeats the purpose of having a ring flash if you are using it above the lens.

I was wondering about that, most of them I've seen are on the lens, except for a Nikon setup that has two of them, one on each side

If you already have a ring flash and want to get better light quality for macro, mounting it and diffusing is the way to go

I just sellotaped strips of white cloth cut to the shape of the bulbs, works fine. If shooting ants or Jumping spider eyes then you still get the circular highlights but not a problem for most subjects.
