Only $750 bucks dude!! Not like the overpriced 16-35/24-70!

I would say the 18-35 is over-priced. 16-35 has VR and constant aperture while the 14-24 and 24-70 are constant 2.8's. They should have price it around $400.

The only concern I have is how well it controls flare and CA. That's not a bad price.

Give it a try! I may order one soon and see if I like it I usually use my 24-70 for travel, trips, etc.. It's a heavy sucker and sometimes 24mm isn't wide enough...

Man, I really want to invest in a long prime around 500mm. Wonder if Sigma will release a refresh of their 500mm f4.5.

200mm f2 would've been more than enough for me. Well.... But then..

I'd lust for a 300mm f/2

So has anyone updated their D600 firmware yet? I'm interested to see how the autofocus is 'improved'? Never had a problem with it, so I don't want to make anything worse!

Ultimate birding lens.... 105mm
This guy wouldn't sit still, had no problems focusing though:

I updated my D600 and found no improvements in it. Seams the same as old firmware. Macro with the poor mans 500mm.

I would say the 18-35 is over-priced. 16-35 has VR and constant aperture while the 14-24 and 24-70 are constant 2.8's. They should have price it around $400.

$400 would have put it at the price of the cheapest Sigma 10-20, and the Sigma is a crop-only lens. No, this lens certainly should command more than that. $750 may be a bit steep, but $600 might be about right.

Of course, it's all about what the market will bear, and it might bear the $750 price of this lens when the price of any of the alternatives is considered...
