It's always nice when the Robins show up. They are so cheerful. I like chickadees more though, they seem to be highly intelligent and communicative, Robins are just cheerful. lol

One more from Saturday, it's HDR, I'm sorry if that offends you. lol. Not as cool as the other one, but I like variety.

QUOTED IMAGE

This is a very well done HDR. You can't tell it's HDR by looking.

Updating firmware - how?

It appears a million monkeys can write Shakespeare. I kept fiddling with this and got it to work.

I've got the update on the card, card in camera. Full battery. I go to "firmware", select "update" and it displays
"current A. 1.00 -> A 1.02
"B 1.01 -> B 1.02
Yes OK
No OK"

I attempt to select Yes, using the multi-selector button - nothing happens. If I try it by pressing the "OK" button, I end up back at the top of the menu with "firmware version".

What am I screwing up?

Is the Network in shooting menu off ? Don't know if that applies for all Nikons but that's what states for the D4. The update (.bin file) must be on top in the card not in any folders. The card must be inserted in the selected primary slot. These are mistakes I did while trying to update, got it in the end )).

Did you get it?

Make sure the bin file is at the root of the memory card, make sure you download the proper D800 firmware. There is a difference between the D800 and D800E files.

It looks like they fixed the live view problem I'd seen in M mode. It wasn't a show stopper, more of a PIA kind of thing.

Yes, that was annoying. Although, I wish they would have made it a menu option to switch exposure previewing on and off.

that would be nice. I've read Nikon isn't big on adding features, just fixing broken ones.
