Others find wet cleaning to be a common task for maintaining their system so it's hard to understand why someone would stay away for this reason. I just bought sensor swabs for my D7100. Not that it really needs it (two spots in the flag pic above) but I know eventually I'll want to give it a cleaning. People seem to be very scared of wet cleaning their sensor. The problem eventually resolves itself but a wet clean takes about a minute. I'm fixing to check out a D7100, looking forward to it. http://emjfotografi.com/

Is there a "big" difference between the D600 and D800? Is it pretty much "do I need 36 megapickles?" Are the AFs that different? I'd be using Zeiss often, but nevertheless... Just curious. I want to get an upgrade before I start traveling. Christian

Will use it with my 2x when needed. I also think the 300mm will be more useful in the future for kids sports. nphsbuckeye wrote in post #15806222 Alright, questions regarding some bodies. I want to get an upgrade before I start traveling. So, is the D800E that much nicer? I've seen the D800 $400 cheaper. Thanks. It all depends. 24 megapixels of the d600 is more than enough for 99% of what I do. The d800 is a nice camera to have as it also has a very usable DX mode @ 15 megapixels. The d800e will add a bit of sharpness. I think your able to achieve very close to the same results if you carefully post process the d800 images, although there are a lot of people who swear by the d800e. If $400 is not a problem, I'd say go for it.

I probably wouldn't "need" 36 MP, but it's in the category of "you never know if you need it". In addition to more resolution, the D800/E seems to have enough better features to make it worth while getting. I don't know if I'm going to need mural-like photos, but what I want to do can definitely facilitate that. Christian
