4 core i7 here as well (i7-2600) and 16GB of memory. Running it on SSD's as well. No performance issues.

Had I had a zoom on, I probably would have quickly zoomed out due as I'm not very experienced with birds in flight, thus loosing a lot of resolution.

I have contracts like Julian's. The images I do for the government ministry's are very tight with their contracts. They will not even allow me to post on my website.
