Less is more.

Maybe the drop down menu wasn't as abvious as it could have been.

Try LightBox 2, simply using the Esc key brings you back... http://lokeshdhakar.com/projects/lightbox2/ (external link)

That needs to be addressed, looks unprofessional.

No page is better than a poorly thought out page.

Page was very slow to load for me... 50Mbit Verizon FiOS...

Thank you very much for the feedback. I will definitly look into those things.

Would anyone be willing to provide c/c on my new website? I have never done one before, so this is all new to me. It still needs a lot of content, but the base is there.

andrewsmithphoto.com (external link)

A few of my concerns.
1) Front page is simple, but seems kinf of boring. I was thinking about trying to fit a button/link to my facebook on there.
2) Automotive page - I previously had it listed as "Gallery" on the tab with a drop down for automotive and motorsport. I found that a few people clicked on gallery and didnt realize that there was a dropdown on the tab.
3) when you click the photo, it brings the photo up in the window, but exists out the of site. I tried a version where it pulls up a box, but it was difficult to get back to the webpage. Now you just have to click the back button on your browser and you are back at the page.
4) the web address for each page isn't correct, but I think I have to dig more into permalinks.
5) Contact page needs to be rewritten. I just put that up there so I had an idea of what it would look like.
6) Pricing page - I might eventually make a pricing page. But for now I am just going to be reaching out to people or answering questions through my contact form.

Anything else that is glaringly obvious?

It very simple and easy to use. Are you planning to use it as a business site?

Thanks Julian. No, taken with my tripod. I've been using my tripod more than ever. Taking the time to set it up gives me more keepers. I take less pictures now but I have more keepers since they are all sharper compared to shooting without a tripod.

Not that I am interested, what is the major reason for selling it?

I use my RX1 for 35mm, and I just got the Zeiss 50mm f/2 so I think it becomes a little repetitive, I know I might miss the f/1.4 but I don't shoot at that aperture too often.

I am considering it. I'm not sure if the market is large enough to support a business, but just a few here and there will most likely come from word of mouth.

Decisions, Decisions -- MB-D14 Battery Grip or Rokinon 85mm F1.4?

I have a little spare cash and don't know which way to go. I've been wanting a battery grip for my D600 for some time. I want to get the OEM grip as I had a bad 3rd party grip previously.

My problem is, I also want a Rokinon 85mm F1.4 lens. I have both the 14mm and 35mm and both are now my two favorite lenses.

I have a Nikkor 105mm F2.5 which is my go to portrait lens right now, but have seen lots in the Rok 85mm that I really like.

So, what would you do? Go with the grip and make shooting in portrait easier? Or go with the great Rokinon 85mm F1.4, even though I have a Nikkor 105mm F2.5?

I know, not a big deal, but interested in what you'd do.

Would the 85 replace the 105? If so how far would it go to paying for the 85? I don't shoot portrait often but the couple of times I have tried with a grip on the D700, it has been a bit easier. I could certainly see that being a better proposition for you unless the 85 is going to suit your style better and get you better IQ than the 105

How about a wider lens? Perhaps the 28 1.8 G? :)
