I like it. My only suggestion is to push the contrast a tad. :)

Got it. I'll take care of that. Thanks J. :)

Edit: image replaced with added contrast.

Looks good but I think the colour shows off the lens and model a bit better personally. To me, the B&W looks like it came from just about any other lens

Like it a lot, in the color shots my eye was drawn to the robe, in the b&w its drawn to her face. Very nicely done.

Some more D800 + Zeiss 50mm F/2. I wished this zeiss lens had autofocus like the RX1. Any idea if the Sony Offering DSLR with their Zeiss line renders the same type of look?

General question for D600 owners: how were you able to track down one without the oil spot issue? Anyone buy refurb and still manage to avoid it? For those who have experienced it, does it really go away after roughly X shutter actuations?

I'm >< this close to offloading my entire Canon collection and going with a D600, 18-35G, and used 80-200 f/2.8. But I'll be looking for a refurb body, so that the proceeds from selling my 6D will at least come close to covering it entirely. I saw the Adorama deal at $1599 for the refurb kit a few days ago but passed it up. I'd just hate to get one of the oily bodies that's so bad you have to clean it every 50 actuations to keep f/8 and smaller usable.

Also, if anyone has any opinions on the new 18-35G or the older 80-200 f/2.8, let's hear 'em. Based on my preliminary research, the 18-35G should be sharper in the corners than my 17-40L, which is a big draw for me. The 80-200 is more of a compromise to replace my 70-200 f/4L since Nikon has nothing equivalent below $1000 -- just want to make sure there aren't any glaring problems with it.

this reply maybe is useless to you because I don't own a d600 or have any answers to your lens concerns. what I can tell you is that I have a d800 that has a later date and had oil splats on it after so and so actuations so it had to be cleaned. after that I added 1k+ on it and it seems fine for now, i'm sure I can expect more oil though.

I also heard that the new d7100 has the oil problem as well... again, sorry no experience on my end, just a 'heard of' info I'm giving you.

Hope I am not scaring you, but Nikon does have great camera and the files are really something different than canon and a pleasure to play with if you do pp work. I can also say that some pictures I do like canon's rendering better, but all in all, I prefer Nikon at this moment. to me Nikon wins on files, but canon is still more comfortable, better af, button layouts, more simple settings, better high iso, more lens selection. at the end all the good stuff about canon meant nothing If the picture file didn't turn out as great.

hope the above gives you some thoughts to help you decide about the switch. it's rather funny because when I was selling my canon gears and buying Nikon gears, two asked 'why are you switching?' I said 'because I like how the Nikon pictures come out' and then I would ask the same question back, and the person would reply, 'I like canon's pictures.' so it could be that we are just looking for something new to play with ;)

Talk to my brother Darth Vader. He just bought a refurbed one for a relative.

Also, look up Colorado CJ who posts some really nice landscapes. :)

From what I've read, the 18-35 isn't a bad UWA option. I just haven't used it along with the 80-200. I know the 70-200 f4 is over your budget but, I do see them used for $1175.00-1200.

It's Zeiss ;) but, I've thought about picking up an A99 just to shoot the ZA 135 1.8! It's supposedly sharper than my Zeiss 135 f2! :)

D600 with 16-35 f4

others may complain the 16-35 f4 vignettes and distorts more than other lenses, but i like it for that reason.

but canon is still more comfortable, better af, button layouts, more simple settings, better high iso, more lens selection.

Nothing to comment on OPs post, but on the above I have to say, that, couple of days after owning a Nikon I found the buttons, right, in place they should be. Settings are simpler to understand what they aim to do/change. Better ISO compare to which? the D800 sensor is like a frying pan (36MP!) and has great high ISO capabilities. Nikon has all lenses to do the job right nothing more nothing less. Better AF for Canon cannot comment on that, I was happy with the 5dii(center), 1dsiii, 1div, Im also happy with the D4.
