A friend here in town invited to attend a very local barrel racing event last night, they started about 6:45 and their were no artificial lights, very little light and all were handheld. This was the last event of the year, I guess they don't do this in the winter. I've never attended something like this. Fast paced, these girls that do this are brave, or crazy, or both. Put my 300mm f4 (a $899 wonder) on the D800 with the battery grip and off I went. Very friendly group of people, did get a few comments on my shorts and flip flops...gotta get some cowboy boots and a bag I can put on the railing to rest the camera on if I do this again. cicopo Goldmember More info | Sep 11, 2013 20:40 | #4406 I've got a few questions for the Nikon users who shoot ACTION or things going FAST. Which Nikon mount zoom's in the xx-300 range have the fastest AF when paired with a D7000 / D7100 & even more importantly how does the AF speed / accuracy of the new 80-400 G compare to the current 70-300 VC or 28-300 VC? A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

Lighting was pretty bad when using faster shutter speeds. I tried using my D7000 + 300mm f4 and it was just struggling at higher ISO levels. Regards,
