Wouldn't dare try that on any Canon.

Ive aksed this before but not on this thread and its hard to get straight answers sometimes when not praising Canon. How does the 24-70 and the 70-200 compare to canons top of the line zooms in that range? If Nikon continues to improve on the sensor design and the lenses are equal or better than I have nothing to lose by changing systems as i am wanting to upgrade both body and lenses. 6D; canon 85mm 1.8, Tamron 24-70mm VC, Canon 135L Canon 70-200L is ii

Nikon has the 28, 50, 85 1.8's that can be had for less than $1500 combined. Tests show (DxO Mark) that these are some of the better primes available for Nikon. elitejp wrote in post #16345025 Ive aksed this before but not on this thread and its hard to get straight answers sometimes when not praising Canon. You will find them to be very similar although the Nikon 70-200 will suffer more focus breathing than the Canon. Plus the Canon can focus at shorter distances. Sharpness wise they are both as good as it gets. Same goes for the 24-70's.

I've had the 85L II, 35L and 24-70 from Canon. Wasn't that crazy about the 85L, loved the 35L and 24-70. The Nikon 24-70 is a stellar copy, don't know if they're all this good but it easily out shines the Canon I had, and it was very good. My Nikon 24-70 is very sharp. Replaced the 85L with the 85 1.8G, was going to go with the 85 1.4 but everything I found suggested on the D800 the 85 1.8 was better. It also is excellent. If I were going to go with a 35, I'd probably go with the Sigma 35 1.4. I haven't (yet) gone that route, but all the reports I see on the newer Sigma is it's excellent.

For those of you with websites, how many images do you put into your portfolio? Obviously you only want to put a few of the very best images up, but you also dont want people to think that you havent shot enough to give enough examples. Andrew | Midwest Automotive
