I shoot alsorts and everything generaly what i see when out walking over the fields and in the countryside and around the villages, i would like something with about the same coverage as my 30d/nifty 250, but abit more modern and possibly abit more lightweight.
Suppose i kind of shortlisted either a nikon combo of - d5200/55-300 VR or poss return to canon 650d/another nifty 250, i dont realy want to go to large with the body aka - Nikon d300s or canon 50d, but cant go as much as a Canon 60d or Nikon D7000.

Here's a good value for a modern sensor. You just need to make sure your lenses don't require in-body focus motor.

You're going to just love that lens. I have one and it is the most amazing, sharp lens I have ever owned in that focal range. I have both Canon and Nikon equipment. Each make some wonderful things, but when it comes to a zoom lens in this focal range it just walks all over my Canon equivalent. The exposed front element is a bit intimidating but be careful with it and you should have no problems. Congratulations on a wise purchase.

Is good to see chatting about even more basic camera gaer like d3100-d5200 is not too "boo hood" on here, as there are many who can not afford or even dream of owning a d600/d800,

Don't own my nikon anymore. this was shot with my nikon d80 and 50mm 1.8

D600 + 16-35 f/4 VR

Yup, it's a killer lens for a killer price. Even at 24 megapixels with my D600, the 100% crops are sharp as a tact.

It's been a while since I posted anything here. I've been dabbling in film photography since getting a medium format camera (RB67) so the D600 has been used as a (very expensive) meter mostly the past few weeks

A few from the D600 while hiking a local trail yesterday. Shot using a Rokinon (samyang) 35mm F1.4 lens.

Just out of interest and by way of a suggestion(Mods) would it not make more sense and be more balanced if the whole PON Forum was multi camera user eg - Canon/Nikon/Pentax etc, that way there would be a more balanced flow of posts and a more interesting combination of topics and pictures, instead of the site being 80% Canon and less than 20% Nikon etc.

Just an idea.

I think that's what is supposed to happen shortly if I'm not mistaken.

I think it will be better with a mixed forum, as im sure many posters have or had both main camera makes, and it might even attract more people to contribute who havn't as yet, and also the likes of those who may have more basic or beginer level gear may come forward esp from nikon owners...

I think we've all gotten past the "Canon is better than Nikon, and vice versa" mentality. Sony, Olympus, also have some cool gear. It would be nice to allow others to share their inputs without feeling ostracized.
