Pretty much my first macro shot ever. I've used macro mode on my old zoom lens, but had no idea what I was really doing. For this shot I used a Raynox DCR-250 and my longest lens (85mm). Was sitting on a lamp, safe from my cats...so I had to tip toe and try to shoot a sharp shot.

I realized why people use tripods and focus stacking and IS/VR lenses for macro work! This is f/11, 1/250, ISO 200 handheld. I would have liked to have stopped down even more and a used a longer lens to get even closer. I had to crop this quite a bit.

This was a blast though and even more fun editing :D

IAnyway, at the rate full frame cameras are dropping in price (saw new D600 plus 24-70? lens for $1600) and refurb D600 for $1350.....maybe I'll wait to upgrade my 2nd camera.

I could not be happier with the D600... yes, there are dust issues but not too hard to clean up in post (just a few clone stamps) when shooting landscape. Invisible when shooting at more open apertures :)

That is getting rediculously cheap for a FF camera...

Wait, wait, wait... you just got me, hook line and sinker. D600 plus 24-70 for $1600? How could that even be possible? Link?

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Some amazing pics...
I got my D200 today in all i can say - near mint condition not a mark on it and just 10k on it, ive just finished setting up the shooting settings ive gone with - centre focus point, wide area and continus foucus, all i need now is for my 55-300vr to arrive then i can start shooting again, aslong as the weather doesn't turn out as bad as expected-a bad storm is predicted with 70-80 mile an hour winds.

P.

I've got my new set up:Dthe first 2 pics show what selling my old 30d and nifty 250 can bring, excuse the IQ they were taken with a very very old cheap and nasty moby, but the third picture was a quick indoor non set up flash, im quite impressed and the noiseless result is realy good, compared to my old 30d, i would have had to apply noise reduction to that pic and sharpening.
