The D750 is a spectacular piece of equipment!
Makes the 5D2 look like a disposable camera :-)
I was very frustrated with the 5D2 because of its totally crappy AF-C and garbage off center AF points!
Not to mention the lack of Auto ISO in Manual mode.
This D750 makes me confident in its AF like my old 7D did.
Only thing I wish the Nikon had is at least a few more cross type sensors on the outer edge cause I'm always shooting off center or the edge!
I'm so happy I can shoot. ISO 12,800 all day and not worry about too much noise....

I gotta say though, the AF system on these Nikons still have a long ways to go to becoming awesome. I find that the outer AF points pretty much suck. You really need quite a lot of contrast and in the correct direction relative to the AF point in order to acquire focus lock. Quite a different experience than the 5D3.

I guess some day, Nikon will decide that having cross type outer points will be a good idea.

That has been my experience with the D700 and D4 too. Particularly disappointed that the D4 and later still persist with only the centre 3 columns of 5 cross points. It's not like Canon has only just moved their cross points away from the centre either

Have a read of my few posts, talking about this very subject, ok perhaps not so much about other focus points but about focus accuracy in general;-)a

I'm actually not talking about accuracy. I'm talking about the weak outer AF points having difficulties acquiring focus lock on even something with moderate levels of contrast. I find the D750 plenty accurate when it locks focus. So in that sense, not much has changed since the days of the D700 and D3s.

Wasn't the d7100 also quite good in this department? possibly down to more x sensors around the area of focus interest, i don't see the need for sensors to be more accurate around the edges, as is not most of our work if following a subject, done around the center?

Not all that often, particularly when framing portraits of people, vehicles or wildlife

So apparently I somehow managed to change the camera to 1.2 crop mode in the middle of the day yesterday. How annoying. Lol. I think something like that shouldn't be allowed to changes accidentally.

Finding a few quirks here and there but that's to be expected.

That's an interesting quirk. What's usually the process for changing the crop mode?

Went for a walk yesterday, weather report said a storm was coming and I wasn't sure when I could walk by the lake again. Hadn't had the 14-24 out in over a year, put a CPL on it and started walking. Brought along my new monopod, but didn't use it. They lower the lake (Lake Pend Oreille) during the winter, and it exposes a lot of the stuff that is normally under water.
