Should both of these photos be at the same exposure or do these two pictures look fine next to each other? With as amazing dynamic range this camera has, I had to force myself to not raise the shadows much for the moody shot I was going for.

Some of these are amazing shots. Question that has been rattling in my head due to reviews and raves about the DR. Do you all still ETTR? Or do you ETTL intentionally because of the DR? Or do you find yourself just going with a neutral metering?

They look fine next to each other the way they are IMO. They just look like slightly different times of day

Thanks a lot. I'm trying to get away from lifting shadows too much just because I can. I also might start blowing out the sky sometimes for people photos just to get the skin exposure more right.....It's not as bad on the D750 as with the D600, but I think that was part of my problem......always always exposing for highlights and underexposing the skin too much at times.. As someone else pointed out in another thread, if I were to lift the shadows more it would kill the mood........ kinda an epiphany for me.
