Here it is wide open at 200mm. That was me, and thanks for the images. Don't know what I am doing wrong. Mine is in excellent condition as well (Minus no box), and I had mine marked down to $280 shipped. Andrew | Midwest Automotive

It was very snappy and I had no trouble with that Downy Woodpecker and those guys move pretty fast. Thanks, I am really trying to decide if I should step up to a 2.8 lens. Most of my telephoto shots are stopped way down, and I prefer using primes anyways. I am thinking about trying the 180 2.8, to see if I like using a prime in this focal range. From what I have read the 80-200 and the 180 are quite similar in AF speed, so that is nice to know. Andrew | Midwest Automotive

Honestly, if you find yourself stopping down to f/5.6 or smaller I would go with the 70-300 VR. It's as sharp as anything I own from 70-270mm and is really nice and light.

Only looking for something that might open my options up as far as types of shooting. I would like to shoot more motorsports (80% of all my shooting is auto related). Andrew | Midwest Automotive

I've found December a tough time to sell used gear unless it's very high demand or just stupid cheap. Less than $300 for a good condition 70-300 VR is just crazy and at that level I'm surprised it didn't sell immediately.

Oh well, I am sure I would have bought a 70-200 2.8 of some sort and realized that it wasn't worth it for what I shoot and wish I had my old 70-300 back. Andrew | Midwest Automotive
