What color gamut are you using? Adobe RGB or SRGB?

Thanks for your reply, as I just told a fellow Nikonian, I have just worked out I can save as a Tiff file on an editing site I use, but In camera I use setting 1or 111 srgb, but I am finding 111 abit strong an over saturated so I wil wind It back abit down to 1.

So for a novice like me who has only recenly got the hang of digital radios, and was dragged screaming Into the world of Digicam SLR, not to mention using Raw, does this sound like a reasonable workflow -
Take In Raw and save and adjust, - Save as Tiff, - then If wanting to put a pic on the Internet, - reduce file size and save as Jpeg, then post the Jpeg Image?.

Please excuse my complete utter Ignorance over this subject, just I'm a "newbie" to Digital Raw.......:o

Try shooting with Adobe RGB. It's a wider color gamut. :)

RAW>TIFF>JPEG is generally my workflow for landscapes. Sometimes I go RAW to JPEG for single shots edited in LR.

Abit like going to all the lengths to Improve your pics and potentialy spending thousands on top notch gear, and still not being happy with your pics, and finding out Its your eyesight with or without needing glasses.

Imagine that and then finding your old Zenith B pics and being blown away with the IQ...

Are you using a monitor calibrator? When you edit on a monitor you want to be able to see the colors as you see fit for print.

I can understand that now, as when I tried saving to Jpeg my file became so small In MB, but saving to Tiff was alot larger, so I guess the tiff gives you a bigger pic file to look at and appreciate the Raw detail.

Here's a simple shot. Nikon NEF (RAW) to jpeg all done in LR 4. I have presets made for certain WB temps. This is bit on the warm side. I also adjust (sliders) for contrast, clarity, saturation, sharpening, etc. It's a basic shot but, only took me a minute to process. :)

Yep similar to what I do In Fastone, move the slide adjusters for High/Low Lights, Contrast, Satuartion, sometimes Gama, then If noisy I go Into Neat and do a noise adjust, and come back Into Fastone and add sharpening.

I think you're doing fine for your workflow. As you progress, you're workflow will change as you learn more techniques. :)

Some of us are too stubborn and set in our ways to learn new techniques. :p

So... I canceled my d600 order. A splurge without enough research. I basically wanted a 5d3 but unwilling to pay canon price, and found out the d600 is not what I'm looking for.

Few more reasons I didn't take the plunge:

1. No af-on
2. Selling is a big task
3. AF not spread out enough.
