Rule #6 "Commenting -- No commenting on photos by anyone, including the photographer until voting is closed. Once the winners are declared, photographers can add comments to their images and everyone is invited to discuss."

I post it other contests and find this rule kind of strange, commenting during the contest encourages interaction between the participants and I find it helps the contest, gets people instant feedback and keeps it higher in the order of the forum. What do you guys think should this rule be removed? Once the contest is closed it seems forgotten and no one comments on the images.

Broken out of the Challenge thread to keep from cluttering it up (which is part of the reason the G-series Speed Challenge added it, and the Small Compact Challenge rules are taken from those. I believe another reason is to keep voters from being influenced by the comments.

I support "no commenting"

my view: let the photos do the talking. if you need to explain your photo, then your photo is not doing the job you want it to do. your photo should be the reason you get a vote, not your explanation.

 God I love puns!

I think the no comment rule is ok. The only change I would make to the competitions is the biweekly timeline..a solid week of voting seems to take forever! lol. 5 days to submit photos and 2 days of voting would be my 2 cents

It's your contest . . . Just make sure there's a solid consensus before you make any changes. I'd suggest posting the proposed revision for a fixed comment period before implementing any changes.

Start a poll and let it run for a week or two... leave as is, 5/2, other (state preference in post).

Just an observation - 7 days for submissions with the current Monday/Monday dates gives people a weekend to go out and shoot a possible entry if they want. Unless you also move the starting day, you'll cut out that possibility.

Not too many comments on commenting and most support "no commenting" so this is a dead issue and rule 6 remains.
