Great shot. About the ND though, why not just turn the power down? What were you using to light this?

You know those moments when someone tells you something and you realise just how much of a moron you were being for not thinking of something so obvious? I'm just having one of those moments.

It wasn't something I'd thought of doing while shooting, I just stopped down and snapped away at f9 so I could be sure the entire face would be sharp, and not accidentally on the nose, but in hind sight I'll give it more of a try at a lower power, as focus tack on the eyes didn't seem to be an issue.

Wow I feel like I was slapped in the face with the wet fish of realisation  Shows how not used to working with lights I am if I'm reaching for an ND before a power button!

For those two shots I was using a 300W flash in a softbox.

^^ WOW very nice :) but I think it's oversized for this board...

This image above is stunning! This lens really rocks....definitely a very social and dynamic lens. I am very surprised....seems like people are inspired by it.
It would not be bad to use a reflector to create some catch lights.

thank you for the feedback.
I`m sorry, but I think 1024x pixels just won`t do justice for this lens. :(
And my thought was this board is for serious photographers who would most likely own 1920x pixel resolution screens.

Should I get rid of the 24Lii and Sigma 50 and get this 35?

Looks like a real nice lens.

It is a great lens, usually after a Micro focus adjustment, I would be a little concerned with the cameras you list in gear though. Don't take that the wrong way though they are great cameras just Micro focus adjust. Unless you can go to the store and try the lens on your gear?

Edit: I forgot you can calibrate it with the USB thingy, go for it!

So i think im having AF issues with the lens, when i do selected focus,it works wonders, but the AF seems to be a little all over the place & never where it should be..

This isnt anything the usb dock can deal with, yeah? should i just get a replacement?

Pretty tack sharp. Got my glass on the way!

davidodwyer wrote in post #15881946 (external link)
I tried this lens out with some lights using my step brother and his girlfriend.
I did add a high pass filter on these and I think as a result they're a touch too sharp, so I will probably change that.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, these were shot at f9.0. I've got an ND8 but I just didn't think to use it, and I also wonder if it would give me focusing issues.

I'm trying to post a 100% crop on his eyes but Flickr is having some issues...

EDIT: 100% crop
