Its also seems much sharper than my Canon 50MM 1.2L that I paid an arm and a leg for. The Canon is a nice lens but too soft for me at 1.2 were I see the Sigma sharp at 1.4 and that's a good thing. I may need to get a copy of this and test it for myself. How is the AF speed of this lens?

First photo was when she was about 3 minutes old. Second was when we were ready to go home from the hospital and she had been loaded into the car seat. 6D | EF 17-40mm f/4L USM | EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM | Sigma 35mm f/1.4 ART | EF 85mm f/1.8 USM

That was a little less than 3 years ago. Needless to say, his progress has been well documented Call me Al Gear Flickr

However, Ill give a more condensed version as I see it: the lens performance is good to great. Its not as snappy as many Canon L lenses, but in all honestly I dont really realize this while shooting. I only notice it when Im obsessing at home about these things. There are two groups. Those who thinks the focus is acceptable and those who have returned the lens and gone through 3- 4 copies, each one being "a bad copy" . The truth most likely (and in my experience) lies in the middle. It does miss on occasion. It will front or back focus at times in weird lighting. Never has this lost me the shot. I just just refocus and take another shot. I strongly suggest the dock as a $59 accessory if you get the lens. It makes an already great lens even better.

idsurfer Cream of the Crop More info | Sep 15, 2013 13:38 | #4300 From a cool wedding I went to last night near McCall, ID. I ended up using one of these umbrellas as a "portable studio". I had my yn-560 mounted on camera pointed backwards. I would just walk around to my friends, have them pose while I flipped the umbrella open with it resting on my left shoulder and proceed to shoot back into it. After the shot I'd just collapse it back down and move on to the next victim! I think it worked pretty well! They all thought I was a genius! IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/coryshuler/9762673923/ IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/coryshuler/9762301902/ We all camped in the field after there party. The skies were pretty cool! It was a good time. IMAGE LINK: http://www.flickr.com/photos/coryshuler/9761933281/ By the way, many of the shots taken with the flash were in near darkness and the Sigma did every bit as well as I think one could expect. Really a great lens! Cory
