is it faster to buy directly from adorama or adorama through amazon?

I don't think it matters really. They both process the same I believe.

thanks. got another question...

if i go to the adorama website, the lens is backordered. but when i go to amazon it's available through adorama.

do you think adorama might have set aside stocks for amazon?

I think you would be best to call and ask... Only way to know for sure. I doubt they have different stock, though.

I order mine via phone through adorama... got it next day. They ship out up until 8:00pm at night I believe. I'm in CT though so it's typically 1 day transit from NY.

Shot near wide-open (I only stopped down to compensate the flash which was at 1/64 power).
This lens is ridiculously sharp, even wide open.

Beautiful shots!

Thanks :)

It feels plastic to me unless the paint job is making it feel like plastic. I am talking about the section where the AF/MF switch is located. That entire area feels plastic.

Oh, you're right. That part is plastic. I somehow thought it was metal until I checked again just now.
Maybe it feels cheap due to the lack of texture as we're used to on "L" plastic?

I guess cheap is too strong a word. Not as refined is more like it, although I actually like the way the older L lenses are made more than the recent ones like the 100L macro which feels pretty cheap.
