how big was it? looks a bit small for a hornet, surely?

does look wasp-ish to me.

Nice shot. :)

Looks like a Wasp possibly a Sand Wasp and it could be a member of the Bembix Genus. There are a lot of them apparently.
Was there any sand near by?

thank you for comments, it was really small and there wasn't any sand around. i was on the edge of a rocky cliff.you are right,it looks like some kind of Bembix Genus.
