Hi,

So, I have lurked here for years and have enjoyed thousands of amazingly beautiful pictures here. I have always wanted to share with you all too, and well, might as well be now. Thus, here is my very first photo posted here--please enjoy.

I couldn't think of a good title, so if you have any suggestions please share!

And here we go: :)

Taken at a pier in Long Beach, during a wet and cloudy morning. 7D + 10-22 (set at 12mm) @ f/13, for ~100s (using a ND 3.0 filter.) I might have overcompressed the file as it doesn't look nearly as sharp as the original.

Nice and quite looking shot, very serene looking, personally, I have not seen anyplace like this, so far.
You did a good job on this, I think.

I came up with these, hopefully it'll get you to thinking of something. :)

"Endless Calm"
"Into the Void"
"Into the Calm"
"The Calm Beneath"
"Tranquil Pier"
"Placid Pier"
"Tolerance"
"The Settling"
"From the Calm"
"Serene Abode"
"Serene Shoal"
"Backwater Brine"
"Your Choice Here!" :D

thanks man. here's a pic of my little setup, taken with an iphone. can barely see my little tripod and the foldable chair in front of it. but i think the overall image probably is more similar to the typical beach we see day to day. and hopefully, this all reminds you of good times you've had relaxing, having a snack, and repeating over and over to get that perfect shot...

thanks. i did try a quick one and didn't like that it took away that organic dark-green tint. (i probably just didn't do a good job--i've seen amazing bw conversions here.) but i kept the slight tint and coloration to add a slight nastiness and darkness to the image. also, with the sand the color that it is, there is still some resemblance to sand and seawater with color, and after the bw conversion it just looks like.... something else, ha ha. :D

thanks randy for the suggestions. i like the words you chose as certainly the whiteness reminds me of those things. i think "tolerance" comes closest to what i was feeling though as i was trying hard to juxtapose the serene with the darkness and grittiness of the pier above. as you can see, comparing the iphone pick and the final, i actually tried to make the nastiness of the pier more obvious.

was really trying to show the coexistance of the ugly and the calm around it.
