Really versatile lens. The close focal distance really helps, so much nicer than the 50mm.

Nicer than the 50 in what sense?

I can focus much closer to the subject than on the 50. Eight inches vs eighteen inches. Also i notice that it focuses much smoother and easier than on my 50 1.4. The general build quality feels nicer too, it feels sturdier and less fragile. I also like that no parts move externally when i focus.

Post more shots.

I was thinking for a while to replace this lens with my 18-135 STM lens but I don't think I want to loose the versatility of having that big range of 18-135. But I dunno, I find it more fun to shot with primes :)

More from crop bodies please! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed using the lens on my 550D. I like the focal length. It's sharp, has great contrast, and the colour is great. AF is great too. I wanted more APS-C primes, but Canon will not deliver. In particular, something wider. About 15 mm.
So after all my gear got stolen, I went full frame. 6D. could not be happier. I ended up getting the non IS 24 mm, but may still get the IS version a bit further down the track. And a couple more cheapish primes. Don't know why Canon won't cater for APS-C prime shooters. Look what Fujifilm have done in a very short space of time.
Just get the 24 mm & be done with it. It's all good.

Ah. I see. Thanks for the info.

I have the 50/1.4 and the 28/1.8 and was thinking of replacing the 28 with this 24.

You mention external moving parts? The 50/1.4 does not have external moving parts either, as far as I know.

The front element moves when you focus.

Ah. I see what you mean. I thought you were referring to it turning when focusing (which I am always conscious of because of CPL usage).

I wish more people had this lens and posted. I want to see star shots with it. I live in the city and it's almost impossible here.

I enjoy more "walkaround" pics as that what I would use this lens mainly for.
