I am looking for a third party padded bag for the Gitzo GT3542LS. Any reasonably priced one out there? Thanks.

Try the Hakuba bags, they got different lengths based on what you want to fit in there.

Thanks! It looks like the PSTC100 will fit the 3542LS with a AS Z1 based on the reviews http://www.bhphotovideo.com …PSTC_100_Tripod_Case.html (external link)

I think I had a 30" long one, but my tripod was also longer than the 3542LS. The bag has space for ID cards and accessories such as a gimbal sidekick or a tool kit on the outside. I was able to carry a tripod and a monoood with heads attached in mine.

I use Pelican tripod/lightstand bag, and one of the main reasons why I chose this one is that it has three padded external pockets so the things I put inside these pockets, such as flash and other delicate small units, do not get rubbed or squeezed against the tripod if these were placed in inner pockets. It's so well made that I know it's going to last my lifetime. The only thing I don't like is that the shortest one (what I got) is 35 or 36" long, which is great for those who also carry lightstands or long tripods. For my tripod use only, I'd have preferred a 30" one.

I just went thru this, but for the older model..3541LS with the same head. I ended up buying the Really Right Stuff medium tripod bag, and the fit is perfect. There's no extra room in the bag, but I wanted it to be as small as possible, and this fits the bill. Length is just right, so you don't have extra bag flopping around. For around $80, it's not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. Like all things RRS, it's designed well and built like a tank.

Giottos fits perfectly on my series 3., with head attached. Giottos bags (external link) are extremely well made and padded. Check B&H.

Wow thanks for that link, I'm using an old Tiltall bag that is beginning to come apart (cost was $6 on eBay) but I have a rig that's virtually identical to yours: 3541LS, RRS leveling base, A-S Z1 head - we have good taste don't we? ;)

I agree with you about the logo on the bag but I really like the design of it, will order tonight!

Nice--If we were at the same place shooting, we'd be like Pete and Repeat (my name is Peter too) So would that be awkward, like when two women are wearing the same dress at a big event? :) I'm sure you will be as happy as I am with the new bag...It looks like Santa is coming a little early this year.

So maybe all Peters buy this rig? :) I have to say I really like the RRS leveling base. The new version of this tripod - the 3542LS - will not take that base. Gitzo have made a slight modification to the top casting so that only the Gitzo leveling base will fit. Apparently also the accessories for our tripods have been discontinued, I ordered a center column this week just in case. I've never wanted to use one on the 3541LS but you never know.

I'm not particularly happy that Gitzo have brought out a whole new range that (a) is heavier than the previous models, (b) doesn't use the same accessories and (c) is much more expensive.

Just received my Hakuba PSTC100 bag. It is of high quality, well padded, and is a perfect fit for the GT3542LS with a AS Z1 head attached (covered with thick pouch). Really great value and I think it will last quite a while.

Well, I have to thank you for suggesting it! Saved a bundle from getting the Gitzo bag (3100) which is too long anyway.

Thanks so much for the link! I've been searching for a bag that would fit my 3541 LS and M10, upgrade to the M20 or A-S Z1 in the future. This looks like it'll fit just right with minimal extra room for the tripod to move around. Perfect! Thanks again!
