Seriously, the lack of smile was totally my fault. I was so worried about getting the shots right I wasn't even paying attention to her. Talk about learning the hard way. I look back and regret it because she does have a lovely smile.

She doesn't have to necessairly smile, but I'm still not feeling her facial expressions. This is not a hard thing to do if the girl doesn't do it naturally, comfortably.

She doesn't seem to look fully comfy in the photos, at least to me.

I like the second one better. But if you intend to do this again I would make a couple of suggestions. tone down the jewlery it really distracts from her face, and concentrate on the model. just my 2cents... Sari.

Thanks Sledhed. I agree, it is soft.

Thanks Sari. These photos were for her of her Senior Prom dress. The jewelry were a Graduation gift to her from her cousin who owns a jewelry store and she wore them to her prom. That is why she was wearing the jewelry in the photos. But I will keep that in mind next time I do a photo shoot her.

I take full responsibilty for her expressions. I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing. I did this as a favor to her. She is actually very comfortable in front of the camera, although she doesn't seem to in these photos. She loves having her picture taken and that is why she would like to try her hand at modeling.

Here are a couple of pictures where she is more relax. She was helping me practice taking portrait photos https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=97434.

Art, those phot's when she's smiling and sitting in the grass is really good! That's what I'm talking about... WOW!!! yes, she has the chance to be a model, that's for sure. And those eyes... Mama mia!! :D

Glad you took my comment for being honest, she does looks great, so I'm so glad seeing these photo's and I'm convinced. And thanks for the welcome back!!!

Thank you Petra for those kind words. I agree with you about her eyes. I have told her several times that I think her eyes are her best feature. Now if I can figure a way to take advantage of them I will be good to go:)

I will make sure and tell her what you said.

I like #2.
Not sure I would use #1 though.
From the gallery I like #3, #20 and #21.
I hate to tell you this, but if you want to put together a good portfolio you're going to have to do some more shots of her.
You usually want to show a models range and flexibility. That means a lot of looks and diffrent outfits.
You’re off to a good start, but there is more work to be done.

Thanks, waldograce. I have done a couple of more shots with her but they are not portfolio worthy because she was just helping me try out some things like testing a new lens or shooting RAW for the first time. She liked it so much that she just recently decided to try her hand at modeling. Our problem is she lives an hour away and she works on most weekends while I am off on the weekends. She is great to work with and although you can't really tell in these pictures, she has a very lovely smile. I'm looking forward to taking more pictures of her.
