You nailed the focus on those last two shots, very nice.
Just curious, were you using all the focus points or just the center one?
Thanks

Correct center point,I never use all focus points in AI servo mode.
I have used outer single points in AI servo on motor sport which I find works quite well.

Cheers

You can use all points, just be sure to lock with the center on the subject, and it tracks that subject the entire time like point expansion. I typically use all points when tracking, but try to keep the initial contact with the subject squarely on target. With fast animals, they can fall out of frame, however servo will still track.

In my experience, focus is quick and accurate. It's crazy sharp wide open. Minimum focus distance is a little long, so product photography is not its forte.

Great info! I wonder of using with an extension tube will help with min focus distance for product photography.

I tried it, gets results about the same as the 24-105 without tubes, but introduces AF problems (obviously no biggie if you MF)
I have my 100mm macro for that sort of stuff though

I had an issue with mine backfocusing pretty severely near infinity, and also had the VC stop working at some point. Sent to Tamron under warranty, and they fixed both issues quickly.

I use it with a variety of extension tubes with good results. AF is extremely spotty with the tubes, and I never use it.
