You know how those unsavory types are. M111491127864020op in, kill the thread and run off. Sort of the forum equivalent of crop-dusting a room.

No, the question is what the heck is with you. Always freezing the thread like you do. Do you see this as some kinda game, or sumpin'?

Besides, you have big shoulders, right? :)

To get this back on a photographic track, anyone checking out Sony's new A7IIR? I have a lifttime ban against Sony products but I just might have to break it for this one.

If I were starting from scratch....Sony would definitely be a strong consideration. I've liked their ergonomics since day one and now the performance is right there with the big boys.

Nice thing with this camera is that you can continue to use your Canon lenses with little impact to performance. It will be interesting to see how their IQ is.

Being able to use Canon lenses would make for a smoother transition from one brand to another, wouldn't it? I've played with an A7R -version 1- and liked it. A lot. But I was using it with a smaller 35mm Voigtlander lens. I didn't get a chance to try it out with the a larger Canon lens.

I leave on my Alaska trip early Tuesday morning, and have not come up with a camera solution. I did sell a couple lenses, and bought the 100-400 II. Camera wise I have the 5DII, which is fine for landscape shots, but my 40D will not focus the 100-400. I put a reserve on the Canon 5DS R, and they are finally in transit, but will almost certainly not be here for the release date next Monday.

Still am not certain I want it, but it would be able to do double duty, and replace any crop sensor camera, as it's cropped resolution is pretty much the same as the 7D MkII uncropped.

I though maybe rent the 7D MkII for the trip, but local stores will not let it go out of the country for insurance reasons. Besides, rental is stupid expensive. One of the local camera shops, a really great store, suggest if I was to buy one new, even if I decided not to keep it, I could sell it at a small loss that would be way cheaper than renting anyway.

I may check with The Camera Store (their actual name), and look into the A7 II, as I am seriously considering transitioning over in time. We'll just have to see.

Oh well. Regardless of what I will take for gear, I am sure to get some nice shots, and will be having myself a whole lot of fun.

I don't think the a7rII is available yet. Also, why does the 40D not AF the 100-400?
