Canon i9900 yellowing in B&W photos?

I've heard people complaining about their B&W prints yellowing even a few days after printing from an i9900. One guy said that the Canon rep he talked to told him the i9900 was only meant to print on 22lb or less paper.

Also, is it true that the i9900 will only print on Canon paper, and that canon only offers glossy paper? (source: zdnet review)

Thanks

Not true. At least the paper. Canon makes Matte which I use a lot. The specs on paper weight should be on the Canon website for the i9900. I downloaded mine (i960) the other day. They don't even make that model anymore.

BTW, for specs, always check the manufactures web site first. As far as the yellowing, I don't think they could stay in business if that was true.

I havent had any yellowing of black and white but I have to say I am disappointed with black and white on the i9900. Mine always have a colorcast to them. It is not really recommended for b&w. I think you need the 8 ink system for good black and whites. As for paper. Canon does make matte, I just bought some the other day. I use the Ilford Printasisa premium photo glossy paper. Looks great and costs a lot less. For instance, I bought 20 sheets of 13x19 for 29.95. Canon 13x19 is 24.99 for only 10 sheets. The also have 60 sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 for about 24.99. Compusa is the only one in my area that sells it or you can get it from their website.

what do you mean by the 8 ink system? Don't all i9900's have it?

highly recommend you check this post out

A bit dated, but still applies to i9900. Short form, several papers work just fine and maybe better with Canon i9900. It is the ink itself I would be more worried about.

and I have never seen any yellowing in any of my B+W prints to date (except for one epson paper that was used in the back of the car test I did.

I know I said this in another thread but if you're getting a color cast, you must have some setting wrong, my black and whites turned out much more accurate on my i9900 then the Epson 2200 I was using before. I'm curious what source has reported the i9900 not being recommended for B&W prints, unless you're just saying that you personally don't recommend it for B&W?

I actually had an easier time getting the settings right to produce excellent black and white prints then I did color prints.
