Hi folks,

Just wondered if any UK forum members know of some good, reputable places to go to try and get myself a good deal on a Canon 60D & 15-85mm lens?

Would be really interested in your thoughts so I can try my best to save a few £££

Cheers

I don't know if it still exists, but Canon UK had a site on E-Bay selling refurbished cameras and lenses at a pretty good discount. Might give that a try. I bought a refurb 7D from Canon USA. Saved a bunch and I couldn't be happier with the cam.

When I was looking for 650D deals Procamerashop was so much cheaper than everywhere else I got an extra lens, bag, some lens hoods and a tripod for the difference.

Not sure how their 60D prices compare to other places but here's a link if its any help:

That procamerashop price looks very good - anyone else used these before?

How was your experience with them Shake N Vac?

Are they imports?

Camerapricebuster which has already been suggested is a good place to start. However, Canon refurb on eBay have some great deals and very often a lot of their stuff is new and only been re-packaged.

I know you said UK but you really can't beat the price of DigitalRev. I just got my 60D from them. £800 with 18-135mm and 50mm F1.8. It arrived in less than 48 hours. No UK manual (but you can download that) and there was an adapter plug in the box for the charger. Also you get an international warranty and you can ship it back to their London address if there's any problems.

Before placing an order with Digitalrev, the link below might be worth a read!

My experience was very good. I had emailed a few questions to them and got replies within 24 hours. Decided what I wanted and placed the order and received everything within 48 hours. Would definately use them again, especially as their prices are so good - I don't understand how places like Jessops get any business with how much more they charge for the same thing.

As I understand it some of their cameras are imports and some are not so its probably worth sending them an email to find out about the one you are after. They offer their own warranty though so any issues or returns are easily sorted though my camera registered fine on the Canon website so as I understand it I am fine to go through them too.

Its worth comparing their package deals to buying the items from them as seperates as they did a twin lens kit for my camera where it actually worked out cheaper to kit the single lens kit and buy the second lens seperate. Though only by around £10-15 - still, thats enough for a few nice beers to enjoy while reading the new instruction manual.

edit: Forgot to add that if you pay them by direct bank transfer you get an extra 3% off too.

I agree the 3% for BT does sound good, but I think I would prefer the extra security of paying with a credit card, for which, I get 1% cashback anyhow.

Pro Camera Shop is Hong Kong based. They ship at least some of their gear from Crawley.

Being able to register your camera on Canon's site isn't a good indication that it will be accepted as a warranty repair by them.

From another thread, people were testing and putting in any old number and the site was accepting them. It doesn't appear to check against a global database or even a correct string.

ah, I had read somewhere that if you can register the camera then its good to send to Canon for Warranty. Guess that was wrong if you can register nonsense. No matter as I have the Warranty from the shop anyway.

Out of curiosity is there a way to tell if the camera is a grey import? I don't really mind but am curious what the difference would actually be.

Agreed. My experience with them was also very good . Got my Canon EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM from them within 48hrs. They couldn't be beaten on price IMO.

Not directly as far as I know.

It could come with a battery charger that doesn't fit your region or a power adapter.

It might come with 2 versions of the manual one in English one in Spanish, it might come with no version of the manual or the wrong version.

If the price is dramatically cheaper than the normal UK price then that could also be an indicator.

You could check for the fake serial number label like the ones here at least, that might give some indication that something is wrong with it too.

https://photography-on-the.net …read.php?t=1242404&page=5

You could also check that the serial number on the label matches the one in the EXIF data but grey imports can also have these matching OK.
