Alright, I'm looking at picking up a 300 f/4L IS at our upcoming NYC POTN meet that I'm trying to put together. I'd like to hear some opinions of this lens. I know I could have found general opinions with a search, but I'd like to get more than I've seen. I'd also like to hear how it does with any TC's. I know I'd be better off getting the 2.8 version if I wanted to use TC's, but I don't have that much right now.

So...let's have it!

I also wouldn't mind a couple shots of it, and it in action. I'd also like to see a person holding it or just attached to a 20D to get an idea of size.

Thanks guys!

I've posted lots of shots with it before, and am just back from vacation with a bunch of nice bird, surfing and dolphin shots which I'll post when done post-processing.

Here are some of my shots with this...

I love this lens. The optical quality is excellent, comparable to the 135f2. No degredation with a 1.4x canon t-con, though it does autofocus slowly that way.

The 300 is a super lens. I shot a lot of GGO's last winter with it. Images can be found here:

I just got one and I love it. Not heavy, well balanced and fast AF (faster than my 100-400). Here's one shot from the past few days: http://www.pbase.com/nezmo/image/54236919/original (external link)

A shot without the 1.4x converter. Camera was the Canon 10D.
