i just got a 5d2 and my cache of 4gb CF cards that gave me such awesome capacity with my 10D now feels incredibly limiting. if i try to use a 1- or 2gb card, its like using film; 25-50 images and i have to switch. I know using an SD-compactflash adapter slows down write time, and i cant burst raw images, but is it fast enough to shoot video if i use a class-10 SD card? i'm planning on getting some good size CF cards fairly soon, but SD card prices have them looking very attractive if they will work for video.

you paid 4 figures for you 5d2.. an extra 100 dollars isn't going to kill you.
I don't recommend getting an adaptor, and for the price of the adaptor, you can find used CF cards online. your 5d2 was made to take cf cards, just use cf cards with it.

well, seeing as i saved up for more than a year to buy it and am now living on $27 left in my bank account until payday, and have a lot of expenses after that, i'm looking for a more economical fix until i can afford to get some large CF cards. I have several 16gb class 10 SD cards for my gopro, and would love to be able to use them.

I am aware that CF cards are the best option, and if i had the money right nos, i would definitely go with that, but i dont. im just asking if it could work.

It would probably be ok for stills. Don't know how reliable it would be for video.
