I thought I'd share two photos which, I think, show what a versatile wee lens this is:
Firstly, Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond. Photographed yesterday after an independence march in Edinburgh (I was the official photographer for the event, so the shot was arranged on behalf of the organisers)

And one from today's wedding. The only adjustments made have been a slight adjustment in curves - apart from that, it's straight out the camera.

^^^ Love that shot. I especially like the reflection of the clouds in the windows of the Beemer. This is exactly the kind of shot that I got the 17-40 for. I am still on a crop, but someday (many years from now) I will get a FF to really get the UW range of this lens.

I used to hate the UWA look when shooting cars, always preferred the telephoto compression look that the 135L used to give me, but I love using the 17-40L for car shoots now. You can get very creative and show more of the surroundings to get a better image. Still like the telephoto, but dont use it as much.
