The quality of the images in this thread never ceases to amaze me. A lot of top notch stuff. I have a 1d4 and I'm considering getting this lens but most of the posts here seem to be from full frame camera's. How does this lens perform on a 1d4? Any advice would be appreciated.

I can't say for performance on a 1D4 specifically but I originally bought this as a general purpose zoom for my 550D and it did great, it was actually my most used and favourite lens! It's definitely a great quality lens and worth getting :D

Although I've been neglecting this lens since I got my 6D, I just ordered a B+w 10 stop ND filter so once that arrives I hope to put it to more use and have some real fun!

I have the chance to snag one if these locally for 325$? Is it a nice lens to compliment my gap from 20mm to 70mm? It seems like I need to just grab it!

For that price I would go for it in a heartbeat!

Outstanding work Hugo.

This is for a local band. Very tight space so it was nice to have this lens with me

3 Story fall off a ladder at a construction site. It was pure silence as it fell. My 6d was on and it appears "ok" the dial top and eye cover popped off but the lens appears to have taken the damage.

I picked up insurance 2 months ago.

Seriously however, what great news that you just bought insurance. The new 16-35 f/4 may just be the cure for your tears. Glad to hear the 6d survived.

From the MTFs it looks as though it will be better, and given Canon's track record, I don't see how it could possibly not be better :)
