I was unhappy that I bought my brand new 17-40 just a week before the 16-35 was announced, but now I satisfied with what I bought, and sometimes it can do sports.

My 16-35 arrived, time to sell the 17-40. Not had a chance to use it yet but took this shot of them side by side.

its an interesting discussion that I have seen in a few places regarding changing to that lens from the 17-40L. For the most part...my use of the 17-40L is tripod based, so IS is irrelevant. 1mm wider and 5mm less reach don't make me want to jump for joy at spending a ton of extra cash to get the 16-35. I understand that it is supposed to be quite good at the edges of the frame, and in that regard it would be interesting to see comparisons.

kinda odd that the car is turning mid lane...into what appears to be the ditch or at the least the grassy side of the road! Other than that, very clean and sharp.

It is a sign of bad things when you dream about losing your lenses and the one you wake up thinking about is the 17-40? In my dream, my son borrowed my kit to take some moon shots and somehow the kit got lost/stolen/something. So I woke up this morning and had to go immediately find my kit. The lens I was most concerned about losing as I woke up was the 17-40. I guess I do have a favorite lens, even if I don't think I do.
