1. I became more firmer with my pricing. I had more clients who went with the packages I had priced vs trying to just get a shoot in for a sale.

2. More questions asked to clients during booking sessions (welcome packets).

3. Not be so gear happy and bargain shop...sold what I didn't need. I actually paid off my equipment this year :)

Care to share yours?

1. I worked for countless hours on SEO for my website (1st half 2012)
2. Upgraded to full frame 5D2 with 85 1.4 and 50 1.2, haven't bought more equipment since so I can break even this year (2Q 2012)
3. I started a Blog on my website (3Q 2012)

Improvement:
I've finally started to see traffic pick up on the website in the last few months, I have booked 2 people just by them finding the website, and have had 10+ inquiries. (I only started about 15 months ago, so that's good!)

* My income.
Went into a new market I'd never thought of in my life previously and it's a runaway success making me more money than I have ever known before.

* Got an electronic EFPOS machine.
Much better than the old paper slips I was still using. Waiting for a 2nd machine to arrive any day now.

* Became more aggressive/ adventurous/ in marketing myself, particularly in direct cold calling the targets I wanted to talk to.
It's been very successful worked for the initial market and is now going the same with with others I am perusing.

* Did a lot more on presentation, branding and signage.

OK, that's 4 but they are all significant improvements.

From RDKirk: First, let me check the forum heading...yes, it does say "Business of Photography" and not "Hobby of Photography." Okay. So we're talking about making money, not about hobbies. By "business" I am presuming activities that pay expenses and produce a profit over the long term.

1. Went to a FF camera with the 5D MK2
2. Placed an ad on the mobile site, it does nearly as well as a top banner on the regular home page.
3. Learned to use my flash in manual, they went back to just using the exposure compensation settings on the camera.

Great thread.

1. Full site redesign and SEO overhaul (went from >100 to currently 15 for major keywords)
2. Full rebrand to better target demographic (picked up a lot more interest from relevant national/international blogs/mags)
3. Decided to go full-time and put lifestyle/enjoyment ahead of extra money
