Did a little shoot for my GF's Brother and Sister-in-Law. I know a lot of people don't like lens flare, but this was done on purpose. Here's a few different ones I have come up with. What do you like? If you want to work on the RAW it is here (external link)

I prefer a sepia treatment.

Tips
- don't forget the rule of thirds, golden ratio etc to make for a more interesting composition
- frame/compose your images as close to the above at the time of taking the image
- learn how to dodge and burn to shape and carve
- use flare selectively... felt in this shot you lost too much contrast on his face

So here's my quick go for you.
(please don't shoot me for using the liquify tool :-))

While I agree with the rule of thirds and golden ratio, it just doesn't always work, though don't let it think that I am criticising you for saying that, just my 2p or cents

I like your edit! And don't worry you won't be shot! Perhaps a will use a LITTLE bit of the liquify tool in my finals, but yours, while you did a very good job with it, would be obvious to them! I may crop off a little bit on the right side, but not as much as you did. I sort of like the more centered look for this. Maybe crop off the top a little would make it not quite as smack dab in the middle?
