Am I the only one that can not stand ROES software? Ive used Millers, WHCC and BayPhoto. All of them just seem really unintuitive. For instance, Im trying to order 50 flat cards from WHCC right now and it will only allow me to add one pack of 25 to my order. If I change the add quantity to two, it changes it back to one. If I add two packs of 25 and try to complete the order, it tells me I am only allowed one item per order. As their only ordering option, its rather annoying and I dont understand why all the labs use the same crappy ordering "solutions".

The few times I've used it I've gotten it to do what I wanted but it's not a pleasant experience.

I generally don't think fondly of programs written in Java like that either.

Good. At least Im not alone in my pain. :D All the tabs and odd pull down menus along with the strange image loading feature just seems archaic. Hell, ordering from snapfish is easier than using ROES.

From my experience, it's better than the ezSuite from H&H.

But with some practice, I've gotten around most of the quirks of ezSuite.

Another print service:

They're pretty good; I use them a little more than WHCC. Good quality, reasonable pricing, pretty good customer service, pretty good turnaround time, great packaging.

Ive used them for a lot of prints on metal, and they always look great. Until recently, WHCC didn't offer metal prints. I haven't tried WHCC's metal prints yet.

Shane. Change the quantity to 2 (or more) on the left side of ROES and click ADD TO ORDER button, then go to review order. It will show the correct price for 2 and in the description will show that it is 2 packs of 25. IF you choose a quantity of two in the spot by the ADD TO ORDER button, it won't work the same.

I dislike it, but I've managed to get it to work. If those services were to revamp their system and come up with a new solution, I certainly wouldn't lose sleep over ROES' demise.

They will just combine the order for shipping anyway and maybe get the hint that ROES isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Thanks gang. Why did all the major labs drink the ROES coolaid so easily? It took me about all of 30 seconds to hate it the first time I used it.

I can only assume it's cheap for them to get, integrate with their systems and customize.

Yeah ROES is pretty much crap. I mostly order regular prints though so it's not really intolerable. I do wish there was finer zoom/crop and even rotate control though because I rarely produce exact sizes anymore. Using the same full resolution file saves a lot of time.

Did you lose Digital Photo Professional (DPP)? Get it here (external link). Cursing at your worse-than-a-map reflector? Check out this vid! (external link)

ROES is awful at the customer end, we have a custom set up from our printer, it's better, but still a pain.
However, at the printer end it is FANTASTIC, with lots of integration. It saves them a lot of time and labour with logistics and print management. A direct to print service through ROES requires very little human intervention until the prints come out of the machine, and that includes the billing process, most of which becomes automated.

Ive tried roes for about 4 labs, whcc is my favorite, but its the one I'm mos familiar with. It always takes me 5 minutes to figure out how to order what I want from millers.

perhaps your select 2 sets of carts, hit add to order and it resets itself to 1, but when you go to the order page it will say 2? I haven't had a problem in the past ordering multiple card sets but I haven't tried to do that this year.

I've recently discovered that I can order 5x7's, 8x10's, 11x14s in the same order at whcc, and select some to be texture and some not. I thought you had to do the same print size per order for years. I mostly did pick a pack so it wasn't an issue but I've recently upgraded my print quality to include texture and styrene for the larger ones, so this is great. :)
