I used some dead roses to experiment with. Now that I have seen that I'm happy w/ the results I can get, I'm gonna try on some different kinds of fresh flowers.

As an idea, try throwing different kinds of salts to get different colored flames without having to worry about changing the color of the flower

Really freaking cool. One thing I have to mention...I'm not a fan of the black background. Reason being, it's sort of blending in with the charred parts of the flower, to the point where it's a bit hard to actually get a sense of the extent to which the flower has been burned.

I was gonna suggest maybe using a white background. That seems like it'd probably make the flower stand out a bit more, and that'd also be an extra element of contrast in the image. But then I figured that probably wouldn't work, since the flame wouldn't stand out as well against a white background.

In any case, I love it. But I do think that the flower is blending in with the background a bit too much, and that's bothering me a little bit. It's not bothering me much, but it's bothering me a little bit.

As someone pointed out, you can toss various things on it to make the flames change colors --

I know of two ways to do this:

Get some sawdust add food coloring, toss on flame... voila.

OR

Check out the link I just posted to find out what salts / things to add to achieve which colors...

We use the link ideas for campfires. :D

Cool idea, great shots!
