I've been thinking of getting the Dell U3011 lately. Is it still a good monitor to get, or is it getting old in the tooth? Is there a big change Dell is coming out with a new 30" in the same price range very soon?

I've got a Dell 2209WA at the moment, so it would be quite a bump up in size. Thinking I would use my current monitor as a second monitor later.

30" is massive, you'll need a bigger desk so you can sit back.

Dell seems to be refreshing its range with LED backlight monitors, so yes, it's probably due for an upgrade some time.

Well the whole idea of getting a 30" screen is that it is massive ;) I wouldn't actually mind a 27", but 16:10 is a deal breaker for me, and there isn't any 27" 16:10 around... well, the ACD, but I don't want a glossy screen.

I would really hope they didn't make these screens with touch interface. And I was wrong in what I wrote earlier...the ACD is 16:9.

What I'm thinking is that they will bring LED to the 30" monitors next, taking down energy consumption and heat generation. I'm just wondering if they will get the same larger color gamut, or if they will go the way they did with the U2713 and U2414.

I love mine! I have it mounted on movable wall mount arm so it floats above my desk. I would def get one before they make them LED!
