Soaked Ashtray

These are my first couple of shots with my RebelXT, C&C would be really helpful. It was raining today, and I didn't really have anything to shoot inside, so as I walked downstairs I looked outside and this caught my eye. Thanks! Enjoy :

second one is much better composition, but first one is out of focus and composition is bit off...

Second is a better composition.. but there is something about the first that really intrigues me.

my eye was drawn to the first one you can't tell its full of water until you see the second one, gave it a strange quality.

Hey, I'm just glad I'm not the only that gets bored and looks down at the ash tray and snaps away! cool shots!

Yes, I converted to B&W first with a gradient map [with my foreground color set to black ofcourse], then tweaked it will channel mixer.
