Well it looks like my purchase may be delayed a bit. Seems I have a new daily spending limit on debit card purchases....maybe my wife is behind all this!

Nah, but I'm just saying since you said 280mm = 300mm, maybe in imaginary number world, not in real life though ;):lol:

Blah.. 280mm is close enough to 300mm :p

Dang.. So I’m debating here. Sell off that 70-200VRII and add about 3.4k and get a 200mm f2. Thoughts?

Not if you don't need it. Be honest with yourself, what will you need the 200 for? If you want it no one is stopping you, but if you are hesitant to spend the money you need to see if it's really worth it. That also means will you miss out on the 71-199mm that you wont get?

I use my 70-200 sucker at 200mm 70% of the time. If not, I pull out my 24-70 for boring shots

Depends. Everyone i know who owns a 200 F/2 also has the 70-200 2.8 II. They wouldnt own the 200 without the zoom.

But do you actually need the other 30%? I'm just saying that you might be benefitted more from the 70-200 then the 200, sure your shots will be bokehlicious but do you really think it's worth it?

that's why I think he might not want to sell the 70-200II for it.

Looks like I have to split up the amount by purchasing gift cards on different days. With my luck everything will go out of stock by the time I'm done purchasing gift cards.

Well.. 70-200 f/4 + 200 f2 could be a better option.

If you really want it then do it. Maybe at a later date you can fill the 71mm-199mm hole with a new 135/1.8 when Nikon releases it.

Probably, you have 200 for f/2 shots and then f/4 for 70-199 ;)

The only reason why I can't do that is because if I buy a D800E with a 24-70 I get a $200 discount. That's $5K and over my $3K limit. :( I'd rather not use a credit card.
